Food: Pak John Steamboat (E@Curve, PJ)

So have you heard? There is a new BEST Steamboat Buffet at PJ! It's none other than Pak John. At first when I heard of the name I thought that it would be a Malay restaurant because of Pak, which means uncle. But I would say it's actually a very Malaysian Concept that they got here. Everything was just so bright and festive when I went. Its Halal btw :D

I went on the 23rd of December 2013 btw. Went there to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Can't believe that he is 49 now. Gosh so old! :P

We reached there about 6pm and I couldn't believe that there was actually a que to enter the restaurant. Mine you the restaurant is super big I think they got about 40 tables with 2 private rooms for functions. So I would suggest that you try calling to reserve some seats before coming or come around 5.50pm?

Here was the crowd outside of the restaurant

Thinking of a place to bring the family out?
Or craving for some buffet steamboat near a shopping mall? :D

Honestly it's always best to walk a little after a meal,
so gotta clap for Pak John to think of such a strategic location :)

They call themselves the best

R E S T A U R A N T

Here is just one section of the restaurant
It was really big and every table in it was OCCUPIED

They got 2 VIP rooms in the restaurant

Here is another section near the windows

F O O D

They got a wide selection of raw food.
Which varies from fish, prawns, clams, squids, chicken pieces, vegetables and etc

If only the food wasn't place at the corner of the restaurant, EVERYONE was trying their best to grab what food they can. Felt like it was survival of the fittest whenever I wanted to grab some raw food. Plus it was a little wet at the area due to the ice, so it was little bit dangerous for those girls who were wearing heels there. Almost witness one lady fell but she manage to grab her balance.

But that is just the placement of the food.
Good thing the food selection was worth going thru it :)

They also got fried food!
They got fried mee, rice, nuggets, squids, chicken wings, etc

This ought to be the first steamboat place that I see that got so MANY types of Mee available!

They got U D O N

They got the C L E A R  N O O D L E S
My Favourite :D

Look at all of the M E E

D E S S E R T S

They got waffles too :D

Ice Cream

Corn

Drinks

Potong Ice Cream

Everything was SELF-SERVICE like a typical steamboat buffet.
Was just so amazed of all of the types of food they got for their customers :D

And guess what? That is not all!

They got a section for B E E F  S L I C E S too :D

Their soup collection

I got the Chicken Soup and it was just perfect since I can't really handle any spicy soup.
Plus we were worry that the miso soup might be too plain.
So Chicken Soup it was for us :D

Their pot allows you to also BBQ the food above. It's something like BBQ Plaza but more space for the steamboat area :D FYI there is butter available for the grilling plate, so that your food wont be stuck on it.

But if your food gets burn and you just cant manage to remove some of your food from your grilling plate, you could request for a new grilling plate from the waiters :)

Here is what I took for my family :)

Check out our beef grilling to perfection :D

Ma & Pa

Jacq & I

All of us :)

Daddy is seriously so adorable la.
He multitask even at eating! Check out his plate and his hands!
He was eating his beef while licking his ice cream.

We were actually rushing for a movie premier, Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.
Would be blogging about that tomorrow.
So stay tune!

VERDICT: 4/5
Honestly, the only bad thing about the restaurant was the position of the food that made it difficult to enjoy but besides that, everything was awesome. Just make sure you don't go around 8PM. The crowd then would be insanely massive. MAKE SURE TO MAKE RESERVATIONS! There, I warned you

  4. Went to this steamboat shop Mid of March, 2014 on weekends. Most of the food are preserved food where you can buy at Giant or Tesco hypermarkets. The Meso soup very sweet, a lot of MSG ! Very thirsty after meal. The Tim sum - 5 to 6 types, all can buy at hypermarkets and are very low quality type. Not worth for RM28.00 per person thru Groupon. Not recommended if you talk about Steamboat buffet !
    Thanks.

  5. I went to try this steamboat yesterday and was so disappointed. Not worth the price that I paid. I have always love steamboat and seriously speaking it is hard to find a good ones with reasonable price. My family usually does our own steamboat at home. Quality is there and the broth is boiled to perfection.
Jess, I think you should not be a food blogger. You have given a rating of 4/5. If me I would only give a rating of 1/5. The prawns served are not even the real prawns. Luckily I took two pieces only one for each of us. The food served for the steamboat is off cheap quality and seriously for the price that I paid I get better ingredients at HoHo steamboat.
Pak John is only for those we want to stretch their dollar. You get to eat all you can, eating buffet ala carte and bbq. Eating steamboat is about freshness of food served.
I told my friend my first and last meal at Pak John. Give free also I would not consider going.

    1. Hi there delsanto, sorry for your unfortunate experience but I went there a year ago if you read my post. At that time it was new and I did had an enjoyable experience. I guess as time pass it is difficult to keep up to standard. As for me being a food blogger, I never claim I was one :) Just a girl with a space to write my enjoyable moments. Anyways have a good day ahead! Thanks for dropping by.
