Any coffee/tea lovers out there? Last weekend was the craze of all artsy fartsy/coffee/art culture. It was none other than Coffee and Art Fringe Festival Asia 2015 (CAFFA)! This event is an annual event and tons of my foodie friends always love to drop by to visit this festival. This year was my first and thanks to Ivy, I got the chance to attend CAFFA media launch at the White Box Publika on Saturday morning.
It was held from 11 – 13 September at Publika. Covering areas of the Boulevard, The Square and MapKL. Aside from celebrating the coffee culture, it also brought life to our local art scene. Got to met a few art collectors and sculptors while walking through the art gallery that was filled with local artists and even artists with learning difficulties (conditions such as Asperger’s, ADHD, or Autism). Which was a new component added for this year is the Art Project, and CAFFA have put together several events in conjunction with the new initiative in collaboration with Artemis Art Gallery.
There was also a beautiful Live Finger-Painting Demonstration masterpiece by Justin Y, who is a self-taught artist who uses nothing else but his fingers to create spectacular works of art, emotionally charged by the cumulative experiences this widely traveled artist has had. His fingers act as the channels through which his experientially charged emotions emerge, speaking to us through the textured color compositions that he lays on the canvas.

After Anna and I immersed ourselves with art and culture from the art exhibition, we headed over to the various vendors found at CAFFA 2015. This year, there were 30 innovative speciality coffee industry exhibitors and 20+ food vendors including artisanal bakers, soda and ice-cream vendors. By noon time, the place was crowded with families, coffee enthusiast and even those that were hunting down for their dream coffee machine.
Every vendor gave out samples of their drinks. I think I drank close to 3 cups of coffee and 5 cups of tea. I fell in love with spicy cinnamon tea that day. It was beautiful, felt like the tea danced around my tongue and just gave a soothing after effect. There was a vendor that even let me make my own coffee art and even teach me the right method of making one! Seriously, if you're a coffee lover, this would be paradise for you. I felt like I was in heaven and it was the same for Anna as she had her chance to indulge herself with books and tea. Freshy Freeze Malaysia also took part as one of the food vendors, serving cold ‘fried’ ice cream to the customers.
Nescafe was the main presenter for Coffee and Art Fringe Festival Asia 2015 (CAFFA). Nescafe showcases a large range of variety to delight coffee lovers. From their coffee product to their new NESCAFE Dolce Gusto machine. There were activities, coffee mojitos and even personalized coffee mug for the public to enjoy. Their cool coffee mojito of the day was Java Mojo, where they mixed orange juice, espresso and soda together. They even had a cute coffee clock made with coffee beans as decoration at their section!
It was a really a delightful morning to have experience the local art scene along with the cafe/coffee and tea culture. Learned a lot of different vendors and some even tips from art collector on how to spot a beautiful marble. At the end of CAFFA 2015, Anna and I left with happy purchases from the event. I am actually already looking forward to the CAFFA 2016.
